When you think of hk pools, beautiful hotel ones are perhaps the first thing that comes to mind. The ambiance and facilities are certainly something to behold, but when you add a view to the mix it’s another level entirely. And Hong Kong is loaded with gorgeous pools that are perfect for a day out and the best part is they’re open to everyone.
Whether it’s the world’s highest pool, or a natural infinity pond on a mountainside, there are plenty of places to take a dip and cool down around town. And of course, there’s always the city’s many public swimming pools that are a welcome escape from summer heat.
The newest of all is the Farrells-designed Kennedy Town Swimming Complex, with its curvaceous zinc cladding that creates an infinity edge over the water. This futuristic swimming pool works to accentuate and extend the existing urban green space, with the two outdoor pools offering dramatic views of Victoria Harbour. The building is topped by a columnless roof of ETFE cushions that can be opened during the warmer months to let in more light.
At the other end of the spectrum, if you’re looking for an oasis away from the noise and bustle of the city, head to the tranquil rooftop pool at the W Hong Kong. It’s one of the highest rooftop pools in the world, and offers a beautiful vantage point to enjoy Hong Kong’s skyline. Guests can enjoy the stunning views from the large rooftop infinity pool, or soak up some rays on the deckchairs that surround the smaller jacuzzi-pool.
And of course, you can also get a cocktail or a bite to eat at the poolside bar. The rooftop is the ultimate place to relax after a long day at work, and the view is even better when the sun is setting.
If you’re planning on swimming at one of Hong Kong’s 44 public pools, make sure to check out the Covid-19 guidelines before heading out to swim. And don’t forget to bring a towel and plenty of sunscreen.
